Free Sample

After a day of orientation stuff, I had about an hour and a half of sunlight to explore the city by bike.

So I biked to Park Point and found a beach. My dear friend Superior was cool, but very bearable. Within minutes of wading I found myself completely submerged.

Of course as I attempted to get back to the city a ship came so I couldn't cross the bridge.

Duluth is definitely a jewel of Superior.

Today I Drove North

After three hours of sleep I leave the great LC.

The sun was rising over the fog, it was quite stunning.

So I had leftover pizza for lunch on the shores of the Chequamegon bay. While there this guy from Pennsylvania started talking to me, he wanted to tell me how glad he was that I was a cyclist. Then he started telling me a story how he would go on this bicycle tour from La Crosse to West Allis in the 70's.

Yeah, I made it. I wish I could've showed pictures of the city, but it's difficult to drive and photograph at the same time.

Introducing "The Zenith Perspective"

So this little blog of mine is mostly going to be a photo-diary revolving around my life in Duluth, MN as I attempt a post-secondary education. Duluth is nicknamed "The Zenith City."
Zenith basically means the point above a location. It can also mean the point of culmination, which I believe is the point we all are working towards...the ultimate goal of life. The word zenith derives from the Arabic expression سمت الرأس, which means "Direction of the Head."

I depart for Duluth on Thursday, but until then I leave you with the words of Duluth bluegrass band Trampled by Turtles:

We can lie like sinners
Breathe the air like children
And you could lead and I could follow
All those times are gone
Still I like the quiet
Of Duluth in the winter
In the sacred bond
There's no place like home.
